HOT! HOT! HOT! Expanded Issue!!!!!!!!!!!! Our July issue of Hort-Pro has something for everyone! Students, who's summer job is gardening, to the master gardener or the professional landscaper. In this issue we have seven articles. Our lead article is from our staff horticulturalist and radio personality Bruce Zimmerman. Bruce has written an article which is complimentary to an article written last year by John Morley. The topic is "salt tolerant perennials and plants". There is a link at the end of Bruce's article to the previous article. The second offering is on a hot topic up here in Canada, alternative methods of weed control. This article comes on the heels of a Canadian Supreme Court ruling on the use of turf chemicals for cosmetic purposes. The article is written by Edward Dywan. It will provide the reader with a comprehensive list of methods for organic weed control. We are lucky this month, Bruce Zimmerman has a second article. As a regular and long time listener to his radio show I have been pestering him to write on the "blue potatoes" that I hear him talking about. He finally relented and put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard). He will tell us which potatoes are best for boiling, baking and french fries. I am getting hungry just thinking about it. Here is everything you need to know about spuds.
Our friend Wesley Porter contributes both his City Gardening and The Gardener columns. Wesley is always a great read and we are lucky to have him as a regular contributor. We have another new contributor to the Hort-Pro. Penny Bernas, owner of Pennie’s Lane. She has graciously written on worm composting. Composting has become a necessity in today's modern world and Penny gives us the basics. Last and definitely not least, we have another archived issue of The Duffer. As usual the Duffer is a laugh a minute with his keen observation of the human condition. Thank you once again to our friends at Turf and Rec magazine.
